RAHMAN, COMMENTS, CONTROVERSY

A.R.Rahman has said that his recent comments, wishing controversial film Dam999 to win the Oscar race, were being ‘twisted out of context’
‘My statement was taken out of context and I was being misquoted. It’s very unfortunately. I cannot forget the contributions of Tamils in growth , ‘he said in a statement . Dam999 is allegedly based on the Mullaiperiyar row, an issue which has became a bone of contention between tamil nadu and Kerala. Following this, the Tamil Nadu govt. banned the movie in the state.

At the audio launch of Ek Dheewana Dha in Agra recently, Rahman had praised Ouseppachan, the music composer of Dam999 as a deserving composer for the Oscar. This has led to a controversy.

Reacting to this, Rahman said that he was in the US for the last three weeks and was not aware of  the ongoing row between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. ‘ I was not aware of the fact that was a sensitive issue going on between the two State over the Mullaiperiyar dam.’ He said .
